As Delegate, I'll Protect Farmland and Slow the Spread of Data Centers
I’m running for the Virginia House of Delegates to protect our farmland, push back against data center sprawl, and support small businesses in Virginia.
Why I'm the Guy for the Job
I’ve spent my career working to keep farms in the family and preserve rural America, and I’m running for HD-30 to protect our farmland and our communities — not data centers and the billionaires who profit from them.
My opponent has taken $332,000 from data center advocates, lobbyists or power providers - I don't accept contributions from them.
As your delegate I will always stand up for Loudoun and Fauquier families, not energy company or developer profits.
My Plan
The good news is - our situation at least partially fixable through state legislation.
- Require large power providers to pay for their own infrastructure - right now you and I pay the cost!
- Underground the Power lines near homes, community centers, and schools
- Mandate bigger distances between data centers and residential areas
- Require data centers offset their energy usage with renewables
- Require modern, less polluting generators
- Environmental impact disclosures and water table protections
- Remove tax breaks given to data centers and use their tax revenue for actual community benefits.
- Eventually, we'll need more and more renewable power via nuclear as new/larger complexes are built
Wait, What's Wrong with Data Centers Again?
Let's Talk about Loudoun and Fauquier
We've got nearly 200 data centers operational today, with 100+ more approved. They guzzle power at a rate up to the equivalent to 1 million homes! Many old ones are smaller, but inefficient.
As of right now, the cost of this enormous power usage is a tax on Virginians through their energy bills - which will likely go up another 15% this year - thanks to data centers. That's because we're paying for all the new power lines and substations.
In the meantime, our power providers are spending 800% more on the open electricity market - another tax on Virginians.
And while added tax revenue is great, taxes aren't going down for most Loudouners - in part because these data centers are GETTING tax breaks from the State and County!
